The Mountains of Do's & the Fences of Don'ts
Memoirs of a different me...
Once in a while it's pleasurable to have a stroll down the memory lane to those school days...
the mountains that we were forced to climb and the fences that often blocked us are still there... all tall and thorny.
The home works, the weekly test papers and the periodic revisions were like dreadful demons that stole our peace of mind and forced us to keep our eyes dug deep into the notebooks while the mind grazed on the playgrounds where the luckier lot ran around playing joyfully. The mountains of Do's seemed hard to climb and we hardly had a chance to skip the task. There were too many fences around which never let us do what we enjoyed doing.
I used to go green with envy when the boys of the neighbourhood rejoiced playing in the rain. How I wished I could also join them and get drenched! No...never ! There were fences all around me. I was the son of a Judge. How could I go out and play in the rain ?
I hated the school uniform so much. I never liked to wear a tie.
The tie always reminded me of Skye, my pet dog, that was forced to wear the collar chain as a mark of its aristocratic belonging.
...Now its time to glare deep into the files that have piled up on my table.
The lives of the unknown held up by the strings of the red tape await the mercy of my pen...
We are always chased by the Do's and Don'ts of life, no matter how little or grown up we may be !!!
